The Idea

Wichita Falls Bin Service was an idea that grew after hearing about a similar service and noticing how long bins were sometimes left on the street in the Tanglewood area. While getting the bins to the curb is necessary in order to have your trash picked up - retrieving the bins themselves is not always a priority, especially when things get more busy or you have to start juggling travel and unpredictable weather.

I would see quite a few people walking around the neighborhood, sometimes with pets or with their children and I want to make that experience a little more positive.

Reducing the amount of time the bins stay at the curb isn't just a plus for the community either. Empty bins are more prone to damage - especially the lid. This can cause problems with animals getting into your garbage, or filling your bin with a decent amount of water after it rains.

Starting the Business

Originally, I was going to print flyers and mail them to every house in the area, but this was a fairly expensive option for just starting out, and there was a lot of information that I just didn't have yet that I would want to have in something I would be mailing out.

I set up a number to call on a spare phone and rented a PO Box to get started. I decided that instead of sending out flyers, I would start out by making a Facebook page while getting things set up and then create a website for my business. My first real hurdle was in setting up a business checking account. If I wanted to have people be able to write a check out to the business I would need to register an assumed name for the business.

So it was on to the courthouse, then to a notary, then back to the courthouse, and then finally to the bank. I opened the business account - and that brings us to the making of this website.

Future Plans

I have a lot of different ideas for the future, but right now I'm feeling out how things will proceed in the next few months.
